COLLECTION OF STONE MONUMENTS

A great treasury of the heritage of Ancient, Medieval and Modern times and fragments of architectural achievements that make up the Collection of Stone Monuments of the Ogulin Herritage Museum also bears witness to the significant history of Ogulin region.

Located in the ground floor hallway, items such as the headstone with the coat of arms of the Frankopan family from the votive Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Miracles in Oštarije (15th century), stone fragments, an inscription from a Roman altar and milestones, take us on a journey thorough past.

Particularly valuable and significant items of this collection are the tombstone of Stjepan Frankopan from Modruš (15th century), located in the Gothic Chapel of St. Bernard within the Old Town, and the statue of a Roman soldier from the two-story bridge in Tounj (18th/19th century) placed in the front entrance of the Old Town and the Frankopan Castle.
