The area on which today’s Zrinski Square was built in the past was a land with gardens and orchards that belonged to the church in the 18th and 19th centuries. The church and garden areas gradually decreased as houses were built. The park area was completely separated when at the turn of the 19th and 20th century Jelačićeva Street was layed out from the Dobra canyon to the railway.

That is when a small triangular square was created, later developed as a park.
