BRANA

Brana je poljodjelsko oruđe kojim se na tlu razbija kora oranice, tlo sitni i poravnava nakon oranja ili sjetve, a služi i za uništavanje korova. Vukli su ih volovi koji su predstavljali glavnu fizičku snagu u poljoprivredi, glavnoj djelatnosti ogulinskog seljaka.

Prvotno su se koristile brane od svežnjeva pruća ili od drvenih klinova pričvršćenih za drveni okvir. Kasnije su drveni klinovi zamijenjeni željeznima, a izrađivali su ih seoski kolari, tesari i kovači.

HARROW

A harrow is a farming tool used to break up the crust of arable land on the ground, to flatten and level the soil after ploughing or sowing, and it is also used for the destruction of weeds. It was pulled by oxen, which represented the main physical force in agriculture, the main activity of the Ogulin farmer.

Originally, harrow made of bundles of wicker or wooden wedge attached to a wooden frame was used. Later, wooden wedge was replaced by iron ones, and they were made by village wheelwrights, carpenters and blacksmiths.
